NCTE: Continuing Professional Development

Whole School ICT Training

CPD imageThe NCTE funds education centres to provide access to CPD opportunities which can be tailored to your schools’ staff needs and made available in your own school (minimum 10 teachers). This can consist of anything from a standard NCTE course to a less formal support group. Why not consider this and get your request in early?

ICT & Maths – Part 2 (NCTE/Project Maths)

CPD imageA new course on using ICT to support the teaching of Maths at post primary level was recently released and will be widely available this autumn. It supports the teaching of the number, algebra and functions curriculum strands. Contact your local education centre for a course near you.

NCTE: e-Links

elinks imageSchool has already begun and so has the activity in e-Links , the community of practice for ICT Coordinating Teachers in post primary schools throughout the country. We have pulled together all of last year’s discussions into an easy-to-read document for all members and are putting together a podcast that will discuss issues familiar to many ICT Coordinating Teachers. If you know of an ICT Coordinating Teacher who is not yet a member of e-Links, why not pass this Newsletter on to them. They can register for e-Links using the form that’s available here.

technology imageNCTE promotes and supports the integration of a high quality ICT infrastructure into learning and teaching for schools. It provides relevant and up-to-date ICT advice and supports to schools on a range of technology-related areas. The NCTE also coordinates the Schools Broadband Programme, which provides broadband connectivity, content filtering, webhosting, and security services to all primary and post primary schools.

Scratch Courses for Teachers

world imageCourses in the use of Scratch, a visual programming language, are now open for booking. These courses are funded by the NCTE and are a joint collaboration between LERO, the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre, and CESI. The courses will be tutored mainly by teacher practitioners and are open to both primary and post-primary teachers.
